The broadcasting of Voice of Somalia (VOS) started in Kismaayo, the Port and capital city of the Southern Lower Juba province known as (Jubbada Hoose) on 13th November 2013, and later was launched from different wired station in Europe; United Kingdom and the Netherlands, as well as stationed in Gedo, historically known as Upper Jubba region of Somalia and Muqdisho.

The core inspiration of broadcasting VOS is originated from group of pioneers who are aspired to bring the voice of the Somalia into independent media which are committed to introduce authentic, and trustworthy broadcasting media which can be passed through generation by serving common goods and empowering total citizen’s voice of the volatile country.
